PAST PROJECT
Academic Tutoring
PROJECT STAND-UP provided hands-on academic coaching and tutoring, designed to enhance participants’ educational performances. We also provided a unique behavior modification component, designed to increase participants’ self-esteem, promote responsible behavior, and foster a love of learning. PROJECT STAND-UP used a research-based curriculum, proven effective in helping participants master the TAKS test and other subjects. This was particularly beneficial for adult and at-risk learners who perhaps due to time constraints or personal issues had fallen severely behind in their education and needed academic tutoring to obtain a GED or a High School diploma.

PAST PROJECT
Parents as Liaisons to Schools (PALS)
PROJECT STAND-UP supported and collaborated with Tarrant County Public Schools in providing the Parents As Liaisons for Schools (PALS) program. The goal of the program was two-fold. First, it provided parents an opportunity to have an in-depth understanding of content and instruction used by the local educational agency (LEA), the Texas’ academic content standards, curricula and educational philosophy. Second, the PALS program created and cultivated parent resources in our communities.
PAST PROJECT
English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes
The language classes were for both youth and adults and were especially designed to meet the needs of non-English speaking families who were interested in learning the English language. Classes were divided into beginner, intermediate, advanced and conversational levels according to the participant’s language proficiency.

PAST PROJECT
Financial Literacy Services
Participants were able to take advantage of Money Smart’s Adult Financial Education Curriculum and Money Smart for Young Adults. The Money Smart Computer-Based Instruction (CBI) was a friendly and easy to use learning tool that taught various modules of the Money Smart curriculum through a computer. The CBI complemented formal classes and enabled people to study independently at their own pace. Each module generally took between 20 - 30 minutes to complete. Participants received ongoing feedback and upon successful completion of each module, could print out a personalized certificate of completion. Participants also had the opportunity to schedule a one-on-one meeting with a financial planner, arranged by PROJECT STAND-UP.
PAST PROJECT
GED Test Preparation
The GED program was ideally suited for education, non-profit, and workplace professionals seeking an effective and affordable way to educate clients, employees, and participants in the skills they needed for the GED exams and for success in the workplace. PROJECT STAND-UP collaborated with local institutions of higher education to assist participants in earning a GED credential, enter postsecondary education or training programs, upgrade employment, or join the military.
